Dr. Brent Mcnew
Dr. McNew grew up in Loudon, TN where he was Valedictorian of his high school class and was the first person in his family to attend traditional college. At Furman University, he became one of two junior-year inductees to Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society as well as graduating summa cum laude with a BS in Chemistry – Emphasis in Biochemistry in 2007. He graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2011 followed by graduating from a residency in anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2015. He met his wife in 2010 in Nashville where she was starting a joint Masters/Doctorate program and after graduation, he and his growing family went to Pittsburgh for a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He graduated from fellowship in 2016 and as the recipient of the prestigious Joseph H. Marcy, M.D. Memorial Fellow Award. He then returned to Tennessee to join Anesthesia and Pain Consultants in Johnson City while his wife is research faculty in the ETSU Department of Family Medicine. He and his wife were married in Spring 2014 in Nashville and their first daughter was born in the Fall 2015 in Pittsburgh. Their second daughter was born in Spring 2019 here in Johnson City. He enjoys working out and streaming the Golden Age of Television. He is also an avid hiker and hopes one day to complete the Carolina Mountain Club’s South Beyond 6,000 challenge.
